The connection list gives you access to the VAM® and NSMAXᵀᴹ product lines. Because not all products can be listed, such as fit-for-purpose or so-called isolated products, please contact Nippon Steel engineer in case the VAM® or NSMAXᵀᴹ connection you are looking for is not listed.

VAM® HP (High Pressure) is a gas tight threaded & coupled premium connection combining maximum external and internal pressure resistance with increased compression. The connection was specifically designed to overcome problems associated with annulus pressure build-up in High-Pressure High-Temperature (HPHT) wells.

It provides the highest level of performance, demonstrated through ISO 13679 CAL IV qualification protocol, and has been used and field proven in the world’s most extreme HPHT environments to date.

VAM® HP is the next generation solution for Production Casing and Tie-back to safely contain the production of your 15 ksi reservoirs and beyond.

Dual sealing system

  • An additional external-pressure seal, located in between the threaded areas, gives the connection an industry-leading 100% External Pressure rating that has been successfully proven through ISO 13679 CAL IV physical qualification testing.
  • A reverse angle torque shoulder energizes a 50% taper metal-to-metal seal, and leads to a 100% Internal Pressure rating. This large torque shoulder also provides high torque capacity and additional compression resistance, in order to cope with the most challenging well conditions.

Thread profile : 2 aligned step threads

  • VAM® HP features 2 successive thread sections with improved thread profile design (negative load flank angle) for best tension and compression resistance.
  • In addition, this specific feature provides higher performances under external pressure, bending, compression or temperature.
  • Precision machining in the threads contributes to reduce hoop stresses in the coupling.

Slim-Line Coupling

  • VAM® HP slim coupling facilitates multiple, tapered casing well designs, as well as reducing ECD while cementing.
  • The coupling design minimizes hoop stresses, and is ideal for use with controlled yield materials in HPHT wells where sour gas or other corrosive environments may be encountered.
